Southshore is an ocean-front village of some 43 beachside condominiums and 87 Cape Cod style dwellings located at the end of the rainbow and just south of South Beach State Park in Newport, Oregon. The lushly landscaped surroundings provide a serene setting that includes a wildlife preserve, a garden park, three access paths to six miles of expansive beach, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, and a clubhouse with swimming pool, saunas, Jacuzzi, exercise room, kitchen, and library/meeting room. We are a combination of full-time and part-time residents with a rich set of life experiences and perspectives that provide an interesting and vibrant community.
Nearby in the South Beach area is the nationally accredited Oregon Coast Aquarium, the Hatfield Marine Science Center, the Oregon Museum of Science & Industry Coastal Discovery Center and an instrument-rated airport. Newport Oregon is home to the NOAA Marine Operations Center-Pacific, the U.S. Coast Guard, a sizable fishing fleet, Yaquina Bay, Nye Beach, and Deco District shopping and restaurant areas, the Newport Symphony Orchestra, and a vibrant arts and music culture. Of course, fishing, sailing, and water activities of all kinds abound.
